Should be an interesting topic as it goes on.
I'm about to make some handloads for my 8 inch 1858 Pietta with Taylor's .45 Colt conversion cylinder. I've spoken with the guy at Taylor's in the past about how fast I can load the ammo, he said 1000 fps with lead bullets. Sounds fine, but it's pressure that I'm concerned about.
I've looked at my Lyman book and read some posts on other forums where people have used 7 grains of Unique under a 250 grain lead bullet. For the 250 grain bullet I'm using, Lyman says 6.3 grains to start with 8.2 grains max.
Anybody disagree with using this load? Figure I'd ask before I begin.
And don't just view this post as a question for my reloading situation. Please, share what loads you have used in your converted cap and ball revolvers here in this thread.
