45 acp shotshells

I have a couple boxes of remmington peters 45 acp shotshells.I use them from time to time in my 1911 when I go camping as a snake load. They work fine in the 1911 but I was wondering if they would be ok to use in a ruger 45 acp blackhawk. The shotshell is of the same design as a fmj except the end is crimped closed.Don't confuse this type with a plastic encapsulated type with the whole plastic capsul discharges down the bore. The r-p type just opens up to discharge the pellets thru the bore.I am concerned about the pellet jump from the cylinder to the bore.

Harold,
I have several boxes of the Rem. .45 shot shells also. I don't think that Rem. makes them any more? They are really neat. They are supposed to be loaded to max. power. I have used them in my Star PD and they sure make a lot of holes in the target. Recoil is very mild also. Shot pattern was good. Would be deadly on snakes and small things. Smaller shot than the CCI loads with plastic front cap.
I also have some Rem. 38 Spl that had two OOO buckshot in it. The top one sticks out the case and is crimped. Total weight 140 grs. and not a +p load. They also made these in .357. I think that Rem. discontinued these also.

Tangent - as far as being deadly on anything, I've not seen it to be the case. Hunted Rattlers in NM for quite a while & used Speer's shot shell load in my .44 mag

Shot a ~3.5' rattler at about 5' - three times. It did upset the poor critter to no end but deadly? nope. Said to self, "this sucks" & dropped in a 265gr cast which did most certainly do the trick.

Have had pretty similar experiences with shooting at mice & similar critters - very haphazard & unreliable. We did have a great time smoking li'l swallow-type birds out of the sky a few evenings - once upon a time. Wingshooting with pistols is a good time!

Shotshells do have their place but .... & their limitations.

Harold, I've shot some .45ACP shotshells from my Ruger Blackhawk without problems. Also made some from .30-06 cases (sized upper part of case thru 7/16"I.D. washer, cut off case to just below cylinder length, sized base of case in .45ACP sizer die, loaded with 1/2oz. #9 shot, glued clear plastic wad over top) and they worked OK. Gun has .45 Colt (long) cylinder -- made shotloads from cut down 410 ga. hulls & shotcups.

Those Rem shotloads are probably collector items.
