45 acp primers ?

I've almost always used Federal 150's in 45 Auto. I almost always am loading a reduced target or practice load and don't want a hot primer to influence the load behavior, and these have a reputation of being on the mild end and have always seated easily and been tolerant of some degree of mainspring softness, which is good for ignition reliability.

I also had occasion to use Winchester LP primers during the early 90's primer shortage when they were all I could get, and I went through a couple of slips (cases; 5000 each) of them when the Federal's were not available. I cannot honestly say I saw any difference on paper at the standard outdoor 25 and 50 yard ranges. It's more like I am in the habit of using Federal in that chambering, and since they've never given me reason to change, I haven't.

I have CCI, Tula, and Winchester. They all work good but CCI and Tula are my favorites. They seem to fit tighter than the Winchesters. I got started using Tula/Wolf when the others weren't available and have no problems with them in anything. Like Unclenick I can't tell the difference in accuracy.

I've used CCI and Win LP primers for 45 acp. No preference, as they both work and fit quite well.........

I like the Federal 150 or the Federal Gold Medal for target loads, IMO the fastest powders do best with the mildest primers.

I am using Winchester large pistol primers because they are the cheapest.

Last year I shot about 4000 rounds of Bullseye. I can say for certain that my choice of primer would not have changed any of my misses into hits. I shot an 22 LR indoor Bullseye match this week, and I was using RWS Target Match. If I had been using Red Box Eley, that would not have changed any sixes, sevens, or eights, into tens.

I do believe that if you have a marginal ignition system then the best choice is Federal primers. Federal is proud of having the most sensitive primers on the market, I used to use them, but they got expensive.

I usually buy remington, but ill use anything if it is available... last time i bought primers, i bought several thousand winchester, so that is what ill be using for a while.

Federal Gold Medal is what I usually use but I've loaded a few thousand CCI as well. No problems with either and no appreciable difference in accuracy. I have been told Federal primers are softer and will ignite easier if you have a pistol giving light strikes, but I haven't noticed the difference because all of my pistols are pretty good about going bang.

CCI 300 here - just because that's what I always used.

I bought a couple bricks (1000) during the peak of the shortage in 2013; and they seemed to work just fine. I just loaded them as if they were CCI's for my recipes with no problems (I generally don't load very-top-of-the-scale for 45ACP; hence, the "crossover" without dropping the charge and working back up).

(Fed 150's) been tolerant of some degree of mainspring softness, which is good for ignition reliability.

Unclenick: ^^Care to elaborate?^^

I use mostly Remington 2 1/2 but also use CCI 300 LP. I've compared only velocity with same charges of powder and CCI 300 is slightly milder than RP and Win and usually gives 30-40 fps less but often less velocity spreads. No issues with RP, CCI, or Win LP primers.

I haqve been using winchester and cci and both work well. I was wondering what other brands work well if the LGS is out of these
