.45 ACP for small hand

Hi guys,

I am looking for a .45ACP pistol. I have a small hand, and SIG P229 is just right about fit to my hand. But when I put SIG P220 or Glock 30 on my hand, I feel the grips are too wide for me. Any recommendation or should I just go for small caliber such as 40S&W?

See if you can find a Springfield Arms XDS to try out. It is a small pistol that has interchangeable back straps. You might find the small back strap fits you.

Get a single-stack 1911, put a set of slim-profile grip panels and a flat mainspring housing on it....and you're golden!

small hand

Get a Colt New Agent, comes with thin grips and is a single stack 1911 with is narrow any way

I find it odd that a P229 fits your hand, but a P220 grip is too big? I would think it would be the other way around, as the 229 is a double-stack and the 220 a single-stack.

I own both, so I can compare directly.

I think the 220 grip frame is a bit longer (.45 mag is longer than 9/40 mag); slim grips can narrow the 229 a bit, too.

I know the grip frame is longer, but the OP said the grips were too wide... it doesn't compute.

Even with the E2 grips on the 229, the 220 is still slimmer.

True, but he may have mistaken too long for too wide; either way, his grip and trigger reach could be affected.

Agree with the XDs .45, nice thin choice. Grip a tad short without the extension mag, but then that may defeat the purpose and concealment.
Myself, I prefer my M&P compact in .40 for a nice small carry weapon.

SN

The Kahr P45 is a skinny, light weight, single stack 45 acp. It is one of my favorites.

I also own several 1911s in 3 and 4" lengths. With an alloy frame, they are quite light and thin (especially with ultra-slim grips).

Try both, and figure out what works for you.
