45-70 marlin ammo

I am about to pick up a new 1895 (22") lever from Marlin. I would appreciate any feedback on ammo. I plan on using it with iron sites for target shooting and occasional hog hunts.

Did any brands/bullet weights cause feeding problems?

Has anyone used the Cor-Bon heavy hunting loads in this rifle? comments?

Thanks.

I haven't used the Cor Bons, but I've shot a few of Buffalo Bore's 430 gr. gas checked hard cast. This thing is a real sledgehammer for game like hogs---over 3500 ft/lbs of energy and great bullet mass retention. Several hunters have cleanly taken Cape Buffalo and Griz with them. With iron sights, I got 3 in about a 3-4 inch group at 100yds. You could probably do better with a scope and a better rest than I had. However, I'm not planning on shooting an iron-sighted lever gun at any hogs that are more than 100yds out. Feeding was no problem. Recoil is stout and the cost is high, so I wouldn't use them for routine target shooting.

I've used Cor Bon's 320 gr penetrators in my 44mag revolver and like them very much. The chronograph confirmed their velocity claim (1250 fps out of a 6 inch barrel). Therefore, I'm inclined to believe that the Cor Bon 45-70 ammo is a good product. The company's reputation is strong.
