Is there a difference between the .44 magnum and the .44 special. If so could you please explain it. Thanks

Hello. The .44 magnum case is longer than the .44 Special's just as the .357 magnum's case is longer than the .38 Spec. Both "44s" use the same diameter bullet, .429". The magnum is simply loaded much hotter and the case made longer so that a magnum cannot inadvertently be chambered and damage a smaller framed or less well-made .44 Spec. I own and shoot several .44 Specials. They provide all the power I need, but if you wanted you could download the magnum and have a much more versatile round. Best.
