446 Stock

What stock material and supplier would be the most durable for stock and forearm on a Marlin 336. I have one which was split in shipping and while the epoxy repair appears perfect I've decided to replace it. While doing so I can't think of any reason not to go with the most durable. Birch, synthetic, laminate? Who is a good source also.

Thanks

Laminated wood is super-strong, although a bit heavy. Marlin makes laminated stocks for the 336. You might check with them. Or look at Boyds.

That's quite a wait. I checked the Marlin website and they show a lot of stocks, but none for the 336. I'll have to call them and see if there are some available but not cataloged.

Thanks for the suggestions.
