444 husqvarna

Hello. I have never heard of a Husqvarna being chambered in .444 Marlin myself. Does the barrel have factory caliber markings?

444

Has husqvarna vapenfabriks stamped on barrel but no cal . this is my favourite rifle by far, with 3.5-10x50 leupold its very reliable ,cheers

The 444 Marlin is considered a lever gun cartridge in the US. Most Husqvarnas here seem to be in .270 Win. and 30-06 Springfield.

I would tend to think your rifle was rechambered since 444 would seem to be an odd choice for a factory bolt rifle, but then again I know very little of what Husqvarna was selling in other parts of the world.

No can't say that I have. Only 444's I have read about or had in hand for a look see were made by Marlin manufacturing. Perhaps your rifle started out as a 9.3×74mmR or 9.3x 62mm and was re-bored and chambered for 444 use. But since I know so little about Husqvarna rifles. I have to admit. Anything is possible.

.

I've seen Husqvarna rolling block rifles rebarreled to .444 Marlin.

What kind of "Husqvarna" rifle (besides the chambering) do you have ?

Interesting - Except for Enfield's & some other military rifles, factory boltgun's chambered for a rimmed round are few & far between.

I wonder if it's an early Husqvarna, that someone bored out to .429" & chambered in .444 Marlin, most likely a "cock-on-closing" Mauser 1896 type Husqvarna (which were made in 6.5x55 & 8x57R).

Pics ?

there were factory made husqvarna m/96s in 45-70, not that uncommon, even some in single shot configuration.

the m96 models weren't made anymore when the 444 was invented so it gotta be another model or rebarreled.

Husqvarna stopped making guns in the 60s really and Carl Gustaf the company took over)

in the 60/70s they made m98 pattern rifles, later they made 1600/1900s their own design ( nowadays Zoli make those) but not in .444 unless a special factory thing (which did happen with loads of Husqvarna stuff) I have shot a factory made doublerifle in 357magnum, fun little rifle

Pics need to be first uploaded from your computer to a (free) pic-hosting website ( www.photobucket.com , www.postimage.org , www.imageshack.com ), sized appropriately, then each pic's "direct url" copied from there & pasted in your post (here or elsewhere).

Frame each pasted url with a square-bracketed - [ ] - "img" immediatey ahead of the url (no spaces), and a like bracketed "/img" immediately after the url.

The pic(s) will propagate when the post is submitted.

I myself wouldn't trust m/96 with higher pressure calibres, heard too many horror stories growing up about bolts stuck in foreheads:D

but they can be very accurate rifles, I learned to shoot/hunt with a sportized STIGA m96 (generally considered to be the worst) but it still shoots fine, sub moa with norma ammunition) (in 6,5x55 of course)
