442 shaving lead

So I sent my 442 back to Smith for shaving lead....the armorer at my dept. looked it over and said a few cylinders were out of time...when I got it back for Smith it had a new barrel and the forcing cone was re-cut...no mention of any cylinder work...I found this a little puzzling but I guess Smith knows their guns better than us...only shooting will tell...by the way, the new barrel has that gold golored laser engraving on the barrel...doesn't really match with the white engraving on the frame...oh well..at least it's a new barrel, the old one had almost 150 rounds through it....

for me, "a few" means 3-5, more than "a couple (2)"...so that means "most, if not all" of you chambers were off (out of alignment with the barrel) at bolt lock.

sounds like the barrel might have been bored off-centre. the easiest solution would be to change the barrel with a centered bore... must be nice to be able to just switch barrels  and toss the old one

sounds like it was lucky that your chambers were at least straight. the barrel fix is much easier/less work than trying to align individual chambers.

Although they replaced the barrel, they may still have retimed the gun. You would have to take off the side plate to see if they replaced any parts when they retimed the gun.
