442 back from fords refinishing

got my aluminum framed 442 back today...all I can say is wow...beautiful hard chrome job (electroless nickel base on the frame)..since it is one of the new models it took off all the laser engraving but Horace put back the smith logo on the sideplate and the caliber on the barrel in a nice light engraving....the action is also smoother since he polished it up a bit...and a red ramp insert to boot...all for around 160 bucks..what most charge for just a chrome job.....and I don't know anyone who can put back the logos....I will post pics soon at my yahoo photos....

Wow! That was FAST!

I hope I can see the Yahoo pictures. Sometimes I can and sometimes I can't.
Just reading what you say makes me want to send off my all blue .38 and have the same thing done.
Would it be possible for you to post a picture "here"--just in case, please? I'd really like to take a look.

Thanks,
KR

FORDS PLATING

I had my Kimber Compact done by Fords after the standard finish on it kept rusting here in Florida. Fords is the best.

Don't shoot,Your 442 turned out very nice. The grips on it in the pics interest Me.Approx. 15 years ago they were featured in a police magazine and IIRC a Cop was selling them for $15.00 to the public and $10.00 to LEO's.Who made them and where can they be purchased nowadays? Thanks, tom.

Tom...They are still 15.00 at brownells. They are called hideout grips and the come in four styles...smooth or stippled, finger grooves or plain....I like them because they are hard nylon and not as slick as wood but don't catch on clothes like rubber...
