44 russian convert to 44 special?

Any reason a Uberti #3 Russian in 44 Russian couldn't be reamed to 44 Special? If I'm checking it right the cylinder is the same length and diameter as the 45 colts/44/40 Schofields.So I'm pretty sure the cylinder is long enough and I'd think if it would handle SAAMI 45 colt It would handle SAAMI 44 special. I'm not wanting to hot rod it just cowboy loads.
 
Don't know about .44 Special but had my Uberti Russian changed to shoot .44 Colt (inside lubed, .429 dia). Shoots and ejects like the Russian.
My rational was logistics because I shoot .44 Colt through all my .44 Cal. pistols and rifles chambered for straigt cartridges (not .44-40).
The .44 Colt ist just a .44 Special with a slightly shorter case and smaller rim.
