The revolver is sighted in (with an Ultradot) for 50 yards using 250 gr. bullets.
I am interested in that weight so I will not have to re-zero, and I don't know if 10 grains lighter would require that
Unless the new load exactly matches the old load (velocity, mass, ballistic coefficient), you may have to adjust the zero, anyway.
Just about any of the Federal, American Eagle, UMC, or Remington 240 gr loads will perform well and be tough to distinguish from each other. They're all decent, but not stellar bullets; and they all run about 1,050 to 1,100 fps. (My personal preference is for the AE 240 gr soft point load.)
But... one of the hottest, hard-hitting, affordable .44 Mag loads is actually the Remington-UMC 180 gr JSP.
If you really want to stick with 250 gr bullets, there aren't very many choices.
The only ones readily available to me are the Winchester "Platinum Tip" (about $30 per 20 rounds - 1,250 fps) and the Grizzly Ammunition "Hawk Bonded Core" jacketed flat point (about $40 per 20 rounds - 1,425 fps - a hot load).
