Just picked it up today. shot one years ago, and I am looking to hunt with it. Question is should I scope it? Maybe a recomended factory bullet for hogs and deer?

I have a SuperBlackhawk Hunter that I love. I do not have a scope on mine.
I had a Super Redhawk that I had a scope on and I took it off. To me it felt
to much like carrying a rifle, which defeated the handgun hunting experience.
I guess you just have to try what works best for you. As far as ammo, I
reload. I've hunted hogs with friends and seen their jhp's deflect off a hogs
skull. I load a speer 300 grain plated soft point with 25 grains of H110. This
load has never failed me. Plus, I'm one of those guys that believe penetration
is better. Two hole leaking blood is better that one.

I have used the Super BlackHawk Hunter also....but because of my failing eyesight, I have to use a scope....put a Burris long eye relief in 2x and this works for me....I use (WalMart) winchester 240 grain jacketed softpoints on Texas hogs with narry a problem.....

thanks

Thanks guys. I don't know if it is a hunter model, I know it says "New Model" Looks like I am going to stick with soft points. I guess I will wait on the scope to see how I shoot.

Lets us know if you like the accuracy :) . I got my 3 screw 44 many years ago and am still amazed at how well it shoots. I easily shoot 3" groups at 25 yards with iron sights (from a bench, not freehand).

Shoots great! I was able to pull 5" groups 25yards freehand, with the occasional "what the....?" off to the side. put about 30 rounds through it before I sighted in my hunting rifle.

Should you scope it? How good are your eyes? If you cant consistantly hit a basketball sized target at ranges between 50-100 yards, you either need a scope or shouldnt hunt with it.

eyes are good with glasses, unsteady hand though, I would take only closer shots.........I do shoot better with a scope on a few of my guns though......
