Sierra 5th (old but latest) has articles for pistol and another for rifle. Actually the Hodgdons reloading center let's you select 44 magnum as a rifle cartridge, and returns loads . Look at the top of this page for the official online data sources. I would never take someone's word for a load without comparing it there.
You must work up the load for your rifle.
There's 270 grain rifle data on Hodgdon's site. Nothing greater than 300 on their rifle site. There is 355 grain data on the hand guns site. Your rifle won't know it's handgun data if you don't tell it.
There's one unproven, 265 grain, jacketed load on Handloads.com under "44 Magnum Marlin Rifle". No idea why they think it being a Marlin matters.
A lot of the heavier and odd shaped bullets will not cycle in the lever guns. That is why they are mentioned.
With the 44 Mag in a Rifle, the best choice is the 240g bullet in your favorite load. You should see about 1850 FPS in a 20" barrel. The Speer 270g SP is a good choice too.
^^^This. I tried the 270gr Deep Curls and the Hornady 265gr FPs. Both shot well(info readily available), but have gone back to standard 240s for hunting deer. Better trajectory with excellent terminal performance along with a better price, means I can practice monthly with what I hunt with. Nosler makes a good bulk 240 that comes in JHP for practice and JSP for hunting.
I'm casting gas checked 240 and 280 grain bullets for a Henry. I can't go any larger but it shoots both equally well. 240 gr around 1740 fps chrono graphed. 280 grain around 1580 fps. H110 powder and cci 350 mag primers.
Have used my .444 with great sucess but at 70 it's getting a bit heavy.
Have used a TC Contender rifle in 7x30 Waters but that too, is starting to get heavy after several hours in the woods.
The 94 Winchester is very light and carries easily.
