.44 Blackhawk Hunter - front sight issue

I have a .44 hunter. I bought this big pretty showy stainless gun, and it came w/ plastic sights. The rear leaf is the same as a regular blackhawk, so I can purchas it in metal. However the front sight is different than Blckhawks. It is plastic and it's molded crooked. Yes, it leans to one side noticably. Anyone know of an aftermarket or way of getting a descant front sight on this?

The Super Blackhawk front sight is the same as the Redhawk/Super Redhawk...

Brownell's and Midway (among others) sell after market sights...

There is and never has been any plastic sights on a Ruger single action.

The front is steel.

The rears have gone from aluminum to steel in recent years.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Your mostly right. Rear is metal. Front sight is partially a crooked casting, with a Vee d out notch, in which Ruger has stuck an orange piece of plastic in. When aiming and looking through sights, I'm looking at a leaning to the left piece of plastic up front.

I did not make myself clear apparently...

Your Super Blackhawk HUNTER has the same sights as the Redhawk/Super Redhawk and are available in many places as OEM or After-Market replacements...

Here is just one source:

RH2006 - Fits all Ruger Redhawk revolvers except Alaskan. Will also fit Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter model. Available in either red or green overmolded LitePipe.

Front Ruger sights don't cost much from midway or brownells. Fiber optic are a bit higher. If it's new call Ruger maybe they'll send you a new one for free?

Read what I posted, again. I said "There is and never has been any plastic sights on a Ruger single action". I know all about those plastic front sights that Ruger makes for double actions and they have NEVER been factory installed on a revolver. Get all your ducks in a row if you're gonna condescend me.

Your blanket statement was:

"There is and never has been any plastic sights on a Ruger single action."

While you may be correct about 'Factory Installed', that is not what you said...As written your statement is incorrect when dealing with the SBH Hunter that will take any aftermarket sight designed for the Redhawk/SRH...

As for 'condesecending', pretty sure it was you that brought that to this thread...

Is this going to degrade into a petty semantic argument?

I bought this big pretty showy stainless gun, and it came w/ plastic sights.
He said he bought this gun, it came with plastic sights. An incorrect statement. I think one can reasonably presume from that statement that we're talking about factory sights, since it came with them.

I said the front sight is not plastic it is steel. That no Ruger single action ever came with plastic sights. This is a true statement.

What somebody does with it after it leaves the factory is not only irrelevant to what I said, it's completely irrelevant to the discussion.

thank everyone for your help, that was very nice of salmoneye to post all those links. problem resoved, thanks again to all.

What in the name of God is all the antagonizing about on this forum?

It's been going downhill for awhile now. A bunch of egotistical noobs straining to be right about something, anything, and will stir it up over nothing.
