How big of a critter can you knock down with a 410 riffled
slug out of a 410 o/u22lr riffle.an old stevans.its just alittle
smaller than a 45.

.410

I have read posts by folk who report that they have taken deer with the .410 slug. They picked their shots and the deer were taken at close range - under 50 yards. You have a 90 grain slug moving at about 1600 fps. The problem is that that little slug looses energy quickly.

Winchester makes a "hot" .410 slug in a 3" shell. 110 Grains @ 1,800 FPS. Even that falls off very quickly. At 50 yards it's ambling along at 1,288 FPS, 381 Ft. Lb. Not a powerhouse. :)

I think your O/U is choked Full. That may not give very good accuracy with a slug, you'd have to put it on paper. An advantage you have, you have rifle sights on the gun. Better than the usual single bead common to many shotguns.

I wouldn't consider it a Deer gun with factory loads. Just my opinion.

I was unaware of that Winchester loading. Just looked it up at Midway. I shall have to give them a try. Also noticed that Win. claims a higher velocity for their 90 grain slug = 1830fps.
Kinda like hunting with a .357 magnum.
