.41 mag vs. .44 mag vs. 45 LC mountain gun

I've always had a hankerin' for the Moutain Gun, now I need to decide which caliber.
Seems like the .45 LC would be the most versatile - if it can handle fairly hot loads. If not, the .44 mag might be the way to go. On the other hand, if the recoil is too much, maybe the .41 mag.
I've never fired a mountain gun, but for comparison, I can handle a .357 J-frame recoil, but wouldn;t want to shoot more than 50 rounds or so at a time. I have no problem with a .44 mag Redhawk, which is heavier.
Experience/opinions?

The .44 Mag. Mountain Gun is right whippy with full-tilt loads. I doubt the .41 is much better. For me to get the proper level of enjoyment out of the .44 and .45, I load them with mild loads using cast SWC bullets. A .44 or .45 cal slug moving between 800 to 900 fps will kill everything that wanders the woods here. A can of powder also lasts longer.

The walls of the .45 Colt cylinder are really thin. If you need the power, the other two would be better choices.

I think the Mountain gun is a little overrated they put a name on it and charge more  But I would go with the .44 Mag if you reload even better was shooting one today with reloads and was a pussy cat. :)

44 Mag

...and with the .44 Mag you also have the versatility of shooting .44 Specials for both practice and SD/HD--the latter caliber better than the .44M for that purpose anyway (unless up against nasty 4 legged types).

If you reload, join the 41 club and you wont be disappointed at all :D

The other 2 are much better choices otherwise, and probably the 44 the better of them if you're using all factory loadings. Then you can go special or magnum.

With all of us pushing our big bores, maybe 9/40/45 will be replaced by 41/44/45...uh ohhhh

But 41 will always be the best of course! Cuz I got one! JK
