.41 cal rimfire

Put them in the closet. They are not worth a lot of money and probably have more worth as a conversation piece than anything else. A local gun shop may give you a decent credit for them on a trade for something else (box of shells?)

Do you just have a few loose rounds, or the original box, too. Old boxes can be worth some money to collectors.

Most feared cartridge of the 19th Century. Just about enough oomph to get a bullet half-way through a man.

Given 19th Century medicine, you do the math.

Shoot 'em in what?

Old Remington Derringers are not that expensive.

Or you could sell. Guy on Armslist said they were worth $2 to $5 a round. Was selling his 48 rounds for $98.

Shoot em!

Many very old rounds will no longer fire. The mercury in the primers has deteriorated the metal and powder charge to such an extent that there is just a glob of gism (gysm?) in the head of the cartridge.

Actually, old Remington Double Derringers are pretty darned expensive; one in good shape with the hinge intact will run around $2500 or more. While I don't believe firing those guns will crack the hinge ("flipping" open the gun does that) but once the hinge is cracked, firing the gun will make the crack worse.

I remember a few years ago in Austin Texas I ran into a bag of .41 Rimfire ammo. I think UMC and it wasn't very old.

Nope, didn't get it and I'm not sure where I was!
