.40 S&W Feeding Problem, And Question.

What am I doing wrong!? I have a Beretta 96 FS Brigadier, and I have feeding problems with anything but winchester white box ammo. That stuff runs through the gun perfect, but nothing else.... At least none I have tried.

I was carrying Reminton 155 gr jacketed hollow points, but they jam without firing. If I put two rds in the mag, and hit the slide release, it jams, every time.... It also did that with the cheap wally world UMC, which is why I try the two round test with all ammo now. I got the UMC for range use, not carry BTW...

It is geting annoying having a gun that no body else seem to have a lick of trouble with, jam on me on a regular bases... :mad:

I know I have not tried that many brands of ammo, but 66% has failed to function properly. Any ideas? I do know that the ones that jam have a larger diameter flat spot on the front of the bullet, and it seems that the rim of the casing is hanging on the front of the mag. The thing is, there are no visable marks on the bullet, but It only happens with these odd shaped ones... I have no idea what going on....

So, what do YOU carry in your Beretta 96? I can try the brands you all use and see if it the gun or the ammo. Thanks for the help.
 
I really couldn't say what is wrong with the gun, but I would think about taking it back if it's a new purchase. Maybe Bereta could help with a phone call. Do you have more than one magazine? Does it do it with both mags?
 
Did you know that..

If you re-install the spring in the clip wrong, it does not work too well!? I did not, and that seems to have been the problem, not the gun. I must have done it when I cleaned the mag, but the spring was rotated 180 degrees. The front of the spring in the clip is where it ends. It is higher, and when installed wrong, pushes the back of the bullet up more than the front, causing a jam...


IRock, you where on the right track... I tried with other mags, no problem. So, I took the jaming mag and a good one apart, and compaired them. The spring was the only difference. Turned it around, and it runs like a top. Odd things seem to happen to me. Thanks for the tip.

Once again it was somthing that was all me, and not the gun. :o

I will now be excepting products for testing, as I seem to be able to get even the best to mess up. :p ;)

WHY ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT YOUR BRIGADIER ?

It says ".40 S&W feeding problem" BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH (a .40 S&W).

Is that a hard concept to grasp?

Have you never heard anyone refer to a pistol as "my .45"?
