Took my wife shooting for the third time yesterday. She is a great shot...really puts me to shame. I brought both our Sig P239 (9mm and 40*&* barrels) and our HK USPc40. She fired CCI Blazer 9mm 115 gr through the Sig while I fired Federal American Eagle 40*&* 180 gr. When she was done kicking butt with the Sig, she asked me for the HK... I loaded 10 Federal HS 165 gr. which she proceeded to nail through the 9 ring at 25 feet. She turned to me and said, "I really don't like that 9mm...the 40 feels soooo much more powerful." I just smiled and thought "holy crap if she gets any better I won't bring her to the range anymore...she makes me look bad."

I like the 9mm in the Sig...it is very mild and enjoyable. My wife seems to differ.

Try using a p226 (full size)in .40....even more sweeter/accurate! I am confused about the whole "inaccurate .40" thing. One hole at 35' is fine with me.

My wife's first handgun was a Series 80 Colt Government in 45ACP! She loved it and shoots it well. I got her Ciener 22 Conversion for some cheap practice and her marksmanship improved. She went shooting with a doctor friend who has a HKUSP 45. She loved it. So for a birthday gift she recieved the USP "big bore." She has since "kicked the Colt to the curb" and shoots the HK UNBELEVEABLY WELL!" There must be somthing to be said about the HK ergonomics as she puts bullet hole on top of bullet hole at 50'. Amazingly cool! You should see the looks she gets when she tells someone her perfered pistol is an USP .45! :D However she is tall 6'0" 155lbs. Chicks and .45's, you got to LOVE'EM!

The only way that the 40S&W could be improved is by changing the name. It doesn't get much better. :)
