What's the most effective defense .40 ammo? Also what's the least kicking practice .40 ammo. Thanks!

Well, the FBI thinks its the Fed 165 HS. The DEA thinks it's the Rem 165 GS. The US Marshals think it's the Win 165 Ranger T. The INS/Border Patrol think it's the Fed/Rem 155 JHP. The Federal Protective Service think it's the 180 HS. The Illinois SP think it's the 180 Ranger T, the Miami PD thinks it's the 155 Silvertip, the San Antonio PD the 155 GD, the Oregon SP the 155 GD,Detroit PD the 180 FMJ, the local sheriffs the 165 Gold Dot...

Marshal has the 155 HS on top, the 165 GS and 155 GD next, the Rem/Fed/Silvertip 155 JHPs next, then the 135s, then the 180 HS/GD.

I say try em all for reliability in your gun, pick the nost accurate? Cheapest? Flip a coin? :)

Lightest practice stuff is the Fed American Eagle 165 FMJ.

Yeah, what BrokenArrow said. Truth being said , todays hollowpoints are considerably better than they used to be. Go for what is reliable and accurat enough to give you C.O.M. hits.

Center Of Mass {C.O.M}

Just thought I would help out.
I always have a hard time figuring them out too.
