4" barrel vs. 4.5" barrel (.45)

In .45 caliber handguns, has anyone noticed a significant increase in accuracy bw a 4" barrel vs. a 4.5" barrel, I have been debating bw a compact version or not. I will likely never qualify for a CCW in Cali, so its just a range toy and a HD/SD weapon.

There are big changes coming in California's CCW rules :). The 9th Circuit is about to rule on incorporation post-Heller, hearing is on the 15th in one of the Nordyke cases and the "tea leaves" look GOOD.

So don't count out CCW compatibility...

If not for carry get the Govt 5" If carry the Commander 4 1/4" I have several 3 1/2 and 3" Colt Compacts and a Detonics Their good for carry but not range Commander best of both 4 1/4 " best all around

Are you referring to revolvers or 1911's? I'm not aware of any 1911s with 4.5" barrels. There are 3", 4", 4 1/4", 5", and 6". My 4" and 5" Wilsons shoot equally well at 18 yds. The main difference between 4" and 4 1/4" guns is that the 4" guns are frequently bushingless bull barrels and the 4 1/4" guns have standard barrels with bushings. IMO, any difference in accuracy between the two barrel types/sizes would just be the normal difference from one pistol to another.
