4 5/8 Single Seven

Anybody heard when Lispeys is going to release the 4 5/8 Single Sevens ? Oh by the way I just got one more piece of 327 brass to reload. It was in a brown envelope with some guys name and a date on it. Sept 04 2014 I believe it was. Most I ever paid for brass. I'm sure glad they throwed in a nice seven shot revolver. :D

They are already out. Just take a look on Gunbroker, several available. I'm picking my 5.5" up tomorrow. Can't wait.

Picked up my 4 5/8's yesterday. Fit and finish excellent. Barrel/cylinder gap a snug .002. Joins my Blackhawk 327, USFA 327/32 WCF convertible and Buckeye 32 H&R bored out to 327. Good shooters all.

Now THIS is how Ruger should have introduced the .327 Mag. They messed up on the market placement of the .32 Mag back in 1983, and they messed up on the .327.

It's a great caliber, initially introduced in the wrong package. Hopefully this will inject a little energy into the mighty .327.

Within the Ruger line, I believe the SP101 is/was the ideal DA platform for 327 Federal Magnum. The others are too much gun for the caliber. Now they need to revisit and use the new SP101 offering in 4" for a better all around gun.

It sounds like the loading gate alignment issue makes the SA Single Seven questionable as to how well Ruger did with 327 in their SA.

I did read on some forum regarding a "loading gate" issue, but my Single 7 lines up perfectly for loading and extracting. Not sure what that posters problem was.

But now the bad news. Went to the range yesterday and could not chamber a cartridge. Almost .10 from entering the chamber. Same cartridge chambers just fine in my Blackhawk 327 as well as others in same caliber. Even a re-sized empty would not fully chamber and could not be forced in either. Possible it was mistakenly chambered for 32 H&R? A 32 H&R cartridge does chamber, but don't need a Single 7 for that. So, obviously must go back to the factory.

The .327 is a small game/varmint cartridge. The question that comes into my mind, why handicap that round with a 4 5/8" barrel? Seems to me it would be better served with a 7 1/2" barrel.

I may have been the one to cast disparaging remarks concerning the ejector rod/chamber/loading gate alignment of the .32 H&R Magnum Single Six. That gun did require very precise alignment.

I compromised by going with 5.5". That will have a chance of being a holster carry. Admittedly, I have never tried longer than 6.

I had this problem, You had to line up the gate just perfect. Actually just before the click.
If you heard the click you were too far right and could not extract.
If you pushed the cylinder back left. You could not get it to go back far enough.

Happy to report though after 300 rounds. That pretty much cleared up.
There is no extra room but can use all the room there now.
Just needed some use.

Figured it out. Sizer die was not snug on the shell holder. Adjusted it, ran the reloads (minus decapping pin) through the die and now all chamber just fine.

Wow! That sizer die should be smaller than your finished case mouth/bullet diameter. Using it on loaded ammo sounds like a bad idea. The better alternative is always the Lee FCD.
