.38 squibb load

Well after 25 years of reloading I got a JHP bullet stuck in my six inch S&W .38 special, about 1" from the end of the barrel. It must have been a real old or a short powder charge. Any suggestions on how to fix it? Thanks for the help.

The safest thing is a brass rod as big as will slide down the barrel and a mallet. 5/16" probably the closest common size. It helps to soak it in Kroil or other oil for a day or so before whacking it.

A good hard hickory dowel might drive it out but I think you are on the ragged edge with a jacketed bullet; and a barrel packed full of splintered wood on top of a bullet is a whole new problem.
