.38 Colt v. shortened .38 Spec brass

Can rounds made using shortened .38 Special brass be fired in .38 Colt conversion cylinders for the .36 C&B revolvers? The cartridge diameters are not identical, but I don't know whether they are so different that expansion would risk case integrity.
 
You can even shoot the 38 Spcl in them IF you use the HBWC bullets. Not a thing wrong with cutting down the 38 Spcl either. Both work. I believe that 38 Short Colt and possibly 38 long colt will work too.(the longe brass will have to use the HBWC though.
 
Not sure on the R and D cylinders, but the taylors website has them and a list of what cartridges you can use.

The kirst cylinders for the .36 navys are set up for the 38 long and short colt. The cartridges he has made up for them to buy commercially, are 38 long colt.

Dont forget, you can get by the hollow based bullet issues if you feel like finding a helled bulelt mold for 38 long colt and casting your own.
