some time ago. He tends to use the 300 grain bullets on everything.

Just wondering what other loads people may have tried or seen used on the more common N. American big game [deer, hogs, black bears, elk, sheep, etc].

I don't have a 375 yet but it is on my list as next hunting rifle to get...but I want to be able to use it for more than a once or twice in a lifetime hunt in Africa. For DG I plan to use 300 Swifts and 300 Speer AGS-solids/Trophy Bonded Sledgehammers.

But for large non DG I have been thinking that the 270 fail safe or Barnes X bullet would be good choices.

I have killed several deer with the 235 grain Speer SSpitz-SP bullet in front of 80grains of IMR4350 in my Remington 700 classic. Not a bad load, but a little unpredicable. I had some clean pass throughs without expansion, did not loose any game, although one lung shot deer did run about 100yds on me. Some other deer that were shot showed violent expansion. I have never recovered a bullet yet. If you hit any bone to get expansion started it is devistating. This bullet is probably a better Elk bullet than a deer bullet unless we are talking big heavy deer then it will probably work fine. I also tried some 220 grain Hornady flat points behind the same powder load and it tuned out to be very accurate. This load should expand quicker on deer, but I have not shot any deer with it so I don't really know. This bullet was designed for the 375Win. and might be too explosive at the higher speeds of the 375 HH Mag., of course you could load it down a little more than I have been.
