357Sig barrel for my Beretta 96

I am interested in having the capability of shooting 357Sig, especially if I can do so without buying another pistol. I have a Brigadier Elite which is .40 S&W.

Can I get a replacement barrel to shoot 357 Sig? Can I use the same mags? Where would I go to find out information about the barrel?

The only other pistols that I have are both .45 ACP (Kimber and Les Baer). I don't know how I will like this round, but I would like to have the chance to shoot it. I don't think I would ever reload for it, like I do both the .40 S&W and 45 ACP.

Thanks.

i'm not sure but i thought one of the beretta-L members has a .357sig barrel made by federal.

Todds, is in a brigadeir model so it can be done. he has several thousand (not sure but over 5000) thru it with no problems or any signs of exessive wear.

join the beretta-L list and ask for yourself. its a good list with pleanty of knowledgeable people.

Todd Green (http://greent.com/beretta/) bought a 96G (.40) Elite and had Beretta-L member and custom pistolsmith Tim Bacus (tim38super@earthlink.net) rechamber a genuine Beretta 92 Elite (9mm) barrel to a .357 Sig chamber and now has over 5,000 rounds through it, he uses 96 mags and uses a heavier recoil spring (18lb Wolff I think) and recently had it magnafluxed at the Beretta factory--they wanted to see how it was holding up. Todd uses the Heitt Red-Buffs on the spring guide/recoil spring to limit wear to the frame. Tim Bacus does excellent work and is mentioned in the latest Gun World magazine by gunwriter Duane Thomas.
