357 VS 38Spec LCR

I've always wondered how they do this especially when they make the same revolver in either cartridge.

I know that the Special cartridge is shorter but when they decided to make a 357mag LCR besides lengthening the cylinder did they use The pressure curve of the hottest 357 cartridge to design the strength of the new revolver?

I wonder

If I had to guess, they manufacture them to SAAMI spec (or some similar standard) plus a percentage for slush room. Not that I'd run hot .357's in a light snubby to see if it could hack it though .

The LCR in .357 has stainless steel instead of aluminum for the metal part, making it stronger and slightly heavier ( i think about two ounces +/-) than the .38 version.
