.357 snubbie velocities

Hello, I recently tested some loads from my Taurus 651 total titanium. It has worked great. I chronograhed some loads today from the 2 inch barrel and thought I would share them. Temp was around 60 degrees.

CCI Blazer 158g hollowpoint- 900fps

Federal 147 +p+ hydrashok (.38) - 860fps

And for you reloaders, I had some of the new Speer short barrel 147g bullets to try. I loaded them in Starlline brass and used a standard Winchester small primer and 11.2g AA-7 (per Speers website, listed as max load, all standard loading warnings apply) This load took the cake. For ten shots the low was 1036fps and the high was 1043. It was seemed quite clean burning for such a sort barrel as well. That velocity should not be too fast for the sb bullet, while still getting better penetration than the factory sb 135 load (only a thoery)It kicked but was certainly accpetable. Hope this has helped

Thanks

SPJ is the CCI blaser a 38 spl +p or a .357 mag? Also, is the speer reload a magnum load or a 38 +p+? I read in an earlier thread that there was a reduce magnum load from proload that shoots well. Please keep us posted on all you're findings. For us ultralite snobies fans. Thanks again.

Double O

No Prob!
The Blazer round is a .357 round. The Speer handload is a .357 load as well. I think this is about as good as it gets from a snubbie. You get both penetration and expansion with a resonably controalable load.

.357 Snubbie velocities...
From a published [source or bullet manufacturer] subtract between 30 to 50 feet per second for each inch you do not have. Some say 8 3/8 inches and some say 6 inches.
