357 Sig Single Stack Options

I am looking for a Single Stack CCW in 357sig. What are the options available? All I know of is the Sig 239, which seems a little on the large side for a CCW or having a custom compact 1911 made. Are there any other options? I seached for maybe a SW Shield conversion or a Walther PPS conversion, but cant find anything. Anyone have any ideas.

Depends how small you are looking to go. Most 40's can handle 357 with a conversion barrel. I carry it from time to time in my Glock 23 and Sig 229. Only one is single stack but both are very concealable guns.

I don't have a Sig 239 (wish I did). I'm just an average sized guy, and if I can make a S&W 686 revolver disappear, the Sig 239 would be a piece of cake.

How about 400 corbon?
I have seen 357 sig 1911's, it doesnt work well, you need to use a heavy recoil spring, a light mag spring and play with the 40cal mags to no end, a fiend of mine did one, it would only work consistently if you load 6 rounds in an 8 rnd mag...

I have done a couple 400 corbon 1911's they work awesome, I use the firedragon barrels they are really nice http://www.efkfiredragon.com/govern...ith-45-acp-includes-link-pin-and-bushing.html

http://www.underwoodammo.com/400cor-bon135grainjackethollowpointboxof50.aspx pretty impressive balistics 1500fbs 675ft lbs and its an easy to shoot round out of a full size 1911...

I would put it in this gun

I would then send the barrel and gun to these guys, get them to fit the barrel {or you can do it yourself}, and coat the gun in matte black and bronze Cerakote 2 tone... Total investment would be around $1800 but it would be bad ask and you could shoot 45acp with a simple barrel swap...

You can also do it much cheaper, a cheaper 1911 with a swenson barrel {they are like $70 but then you need a link and bushing which is like $30, I believe ed brown makes one in 400 too..

You get ballistics close to 10mm with out the high pressures, and recoil is like a 45 230 gr...

357 sig is an awesome cartridge.

I have a 239, its an SAS, I don't have much experience with the non sas besides handling them in the shops, I added CT grips and a SS guide rod to my gun, besides that it is as it left sig, it shoots great although it hasn't been really shot much, its a nice gun, all sigs are...

The sas feels smaller than the normal 239, its not a large gun at all, if you want something nice in 357sig, single stack, I think you already picked your gun...

The p239 isnt big at all, its just a shade larger than my p290s which I consider small, maybe an inch longer an inch higher and the about the same width..
I am all about the small carry gun, I love my p290's, p3at, ppk/s, ect I put the p239 in that same category....

I have Glocks 31 and 32.

Excellent guns. And I do have the 239 Sig, but in 9mm. Also outstanding.

I wouid caution you to get a top make. Also rans would not be the way to go.

Glock and Sig are the most used by PDs.

Both can be retro fitted with .40 S&W barrels.

I carry it with a IWB sig hybrid, there are better options out there but its what I have for it... I bought it from the shop I got the gun through, and its actually not a bad holster at all for $60, sure milt sparks could make something amazing, but I don't carry it much, I honestly carry my p3at crimson trace lately, I want as small as possible, if I could carry a .380 pen gun that held 4 rounds I would rather than have something in my waist all day, or in my pocket, the p3at goes in my pocket on a pocket clip, its is like its not there...

I carry a Glock 33, and I'd throw out the suggestion of looking at one if you haven't already. No, it's not a single stack, but AFAIK it's the smallest production 357 Sig handgun. Personally, I believe it compares quite favorably to the P239 in thickness, despite the fat double stack magazine.

Since the switch from .40 S&W to .357 SIG is mostly just a changing of barrels, you might look at one of the .40 S&W models that Kahr offers. They are single-stack, unlike some of the other suggestions.

I do not know if anybody offers a Kahr barrel in .357 SIG, and personally, I sold off my .40 caliber Kahrs to stay with 9mm in that gun. The .40 caliber guns were too snappy upon firing, especially the polymer-framed one.

Best of luck in your search, and I also think the SIG 239 is a fine pistol that is not all that large.
