.357 Sig ammo for HD causing FTF. . .

All:

I have a Glock 32, and as you can imagine, ammo for it is scarce at best. Sure, there is plenty of FMJ ammo for it, but I need something for home defense.

I have been using Gold Dot, but I have had tons of FTF's lately with that stuff!!!! It seems the Gold Dot's mouth is too wide. It catches on the feed ramp. Usually it only happens on the initial feed when reloading, but sometimes it will happen while firing.

So, here's my dilemma. There is nothing else I can buy around here except for Cor*Bon. I have been told that it is not the best ammo to use, and so I am against using that. The police distributor here has some nice Winchester ammo for HD, but it is LEO, and I can't buy.

So, what do you guys use? I can't even find Hydra-Shok online! I think I am going to have my range order some for me.

Anyone else expereince this in the .357 Sig caliber? Should I change and go to a .40 barrel?

Thanks!

Brandon

Dumb question...why is certain ammo like the Winchester you describe for LEO's only?!? Is there a nuclear warhead in them or something?

The Winchester he's refering to is the Ranger Talon (Black Talon bullet minus the black color) that Winchester voluntarily stopped selling to commercial retail outlets, just law enforcement distributors.

I would give Glock a call. I've used their technical department before and they were extremely helpful. It could be you have something wrong with the weapon such as a feedramp cut slightly out of spec of a couple of bad magazines.

I would think that your Glock should feed anything, especially with a bottleneck cartridge such as the .357 Sig. I have routinely used Corbon ammo in all my Glocks and they are famous for having large hollowpoint cavities, perhaps even larger than the Gold Dots.

Getting a .40 barrel would be a good idea just in case you ever get into a situation where you can't find any .357 Sig ammo. You can always find .40, even at the local Wallyworld.

Good Shooting

I would send the gun to Glock -- my G33 has had over 200 Gold Dots through it without a FTF -- but then again, it's never had a FTF with any ammo.

Hantra,
Why do you think that Cor-Bon ammo is bad??? Who told you it was bad?? I think this sounds like a rumor that was circulated around the internet a while back. The story, as I remember it was that Peter Pi had a disgruntled employee that sabotaged lots of ammo. This is false!!! I have never had any problems with Cor-Bon ammo, except for the fact that they don't make 9x18mm Makarov any more!!!! Besides, you have the best shopping tool right at your fingertips.:D Try www.ammoman.com www.proload.com www.jgsales.com !!!!!

The Gold Dots are used by a lot of LEO agencies that adopted .357 SIG, there is no reason they should not work in your Glock. I'd get some warranty work done.

Go to www.cheaperthandirt.com click on "Ammo Search". Choose Handgun ammo, .357 SIG, all manufacturers. They got Federal, Hornady, Winchester, Cor-Bon and Remington JHPs in .357 SIG, plus Glasers and MagSafes.

And who says the Cor-Bon is no good?

Gold Dots, both factory and reloaded, have worked flawlessly in my Glock 31.

You should probably have your gun checked out. You might even have a magazine problem...
