Decent gun or get what you pay for?

For squirrels, crows and busting clays with friends. I already have a Mossberg 500 and wanted a SxS for a while but don't want to spend a lot or waste my money either.

I'm no expert on shotguns, or much of anything else, but I think they look decent for the money. I looked at one not long ago at the local Gander Mountain, this one was an over/under, 12 ga, screw in chokes, with an adjustable buttplate. (I guess that's what it's called. You could change the length of the stock, and adjust the buttplate up and down also.) It came with a hard case, and an extra set of 20 ga barrels. They wanted $369.00 for it. Naturally I didn't have the money, but it seemed like a good deal to me.

I would buy one like you're talking about.

I can't say enough good things about Stoeger Shotguns, based on my Condor O/U 12 gauge. Haven't owned one of their side by sides.

Yes, you get what you pay for. Wood to metal fit is not a great as higher priced guns, stocks aren;t real fancy wood, chekering is "rolled" on, pretty heavy compared to some higher priced shotguns etc, etc... BUT as far as "bang for your Buck", I say you can;t go wrong with them

remington

doesn't remingotn make a line of sxs for a really affordable price? i think they have a nice selection for 250-330.

It's a decent shotgun for the money. The Remington runs about the same price around here. They aren't going to win a beauty contest and they have a history of occasionally misfiring. Mine never has, but I'm not too worried about a bird getting the drop on me.;)

Spartan=Baikal

I have a Baikal and have looked at Stoeger SxS, they seem to fit well enough for hunting and the like. If my life depended on the gun working I would upgrade, but we have very few man eating squirrels nearby so I have no problem using one.

You get what you pay for..but..this can be qualified to some degree. You are not going to get truly great loking wood with a $250-350 shotgun. The finish will be something that is less than great. You probably will not get a really tight fit between the metal and wood and will see gaps and areas where the inletting is anything from ok to downright horrible. Often times the metal to metal fit is sloppy too. If this doesn't bother you, then some of these guns are what you want, they are affordable and for the most part dependable. The only problem I ever had was people trying to compare a Baikal to a Browning..The only true similarity is that they are both shotguns.

I've looked at these several times in the last couple years. Just don't have the need (or the extra cash) and if I buy a double it'll probably be an O/U. But for the $$$ I found the "fit and finish" of these was actually very good. Plus a SxS just looks "cool":D

Well, I just bought a Stoeger uplander SxS this past Friday at Dick's Sporting Goods. $353.00 tax and all. I took this gun out the next day and shot trap and skeet for
3 1/2 hours and it did really well.
I have been wanting a double barrel shotgun for awhile and I've searched high and low for a reasonably priced one and I believe this is it.
Every pawn shop I went into had afew here and there but wanted as much as I paid for this new one and those used ones were not in great shape.
I got the word from afew people that this was a good gun so I got it and I'm not looking back....unless it falls apart or something. I be sure to keep y'all up to date if it does.
