342PD -- .357 Magnum?

The S&W web site data re the 342PD classifies it as a .38 +P.

However, when one enlarges the picture, S&W .357 Magnum is clearly printed on the barrel.

Curious.

I got a 342 in 1999. At least then, that model was 38+P. The "PD" thing had not come along at that time. Mine was all silver with titanium cylinder.

Got the 340PD earlier this year bcause it was all black and handled .357s. I think specs say 12 ounces vs. 11.

S&W Website pretty tough to navigate, huh?

I noticed that myself about two months ago. I just figured that they made the same mistake, and just like other mistakes that I have seen in many gun books, magazines and other gun publications. ( Now that is some bad diction, but I think you get my drift).

cuerno de chivo,

Thanks for resolving my puzzlement.

Here I had been thinking that those who kept referring to a 340PD were misnumbering the 342PD :) .
