338 lapua mag close range optic?

Looking for some recommendations here. I'll be using the savage 110 fcp in .338 lapua magnum on a camping trip pretty soon but only in close quaters type situations within 25 yards. Anyone here know any close range optics that won't rattle apart that would fit the bill? Normally I'd prefer iron sights but that doesn't seem to be an option with this weapon so I'm open to suggestions.

Yeah sounds like this is about right. I'd suggest looking for a different rifle for those kinds of distance. that's a lot of power for something that you could accomplish with a pistol caliber such as a .44 Mag. What exactly are you thinking you are going to be shooting at such a short distance with such a large rifle? Impractical and unwieldy are just the tip of the iceberg for that kind of situation.
 
Most any good quality 1-4X20 scope is ideal. On 1X they are faster up close than iron sights or dot sights. 4X is enough magnification for out to at least 300 yards if such a shot presents its self.

I prefer Leupold, even the $200 VX-1 should work just fine. But if you want more quality they make a comparable VX-2 and VX-3.
 
It's for bear defense. I'm in Canada right now and pistols are classed as restricted weapons. So carrying a 454 casul for me isn't an option I also understand that their are better choices such as the .375 but I don't want to dish out the money on a rifle I'd only use once or twice. So since I've always wanted the .338lm I'll deal with the downsides of using it for this purpose for one or two trips.
 
It's true I'd like something I could use for my trip but would also be a high quality CQB optic I could transfer to my 300 blackout ar-15 after.
 
In that case, get a 1x6 scope. Vortex Razor HD Gen II 1-6x24 would be a good match, but that will cost you $1350.
 
"...I'm in Canada..." You seen the cost of .338 Lapua ammo? Isn't a close range cartridge anyway, but ammo starts at $119.99 and goes up to $159.99 per 20 at Cabela's. Bit less elsewhere.
Brass starts at about $100 per 25.
Oh and you will never be fast enough to recognise the threat, load, aim and shoot if Yogi is coming from under 100 yards.
Where you are up here matters too. You cannot just wander around with a firearm just anywhere. Not at all in any Provincial or National Park that doesn't have an open hunting season running.
 
Congrats T to being the first person to post no useful information. I'm aware of the laws and restrictions of where I'll be going. Second off if YOU can't chamber a round and put one where it needs to be sounds like you need more practice, and don't gimmie no crap about bears I'm familiar enough with hunting predatory game. And thanks everyone else I finally settled on an optic after reviewing some of my choices.
