.327 Fed mag

Good evening fellows, I've been eyeing a Ruger Single Seven 327 Fed mag and was wondering if any of you have any experience with this revolver? If so, what do you think about it?

I have one in a 5.5" and I liked it so well that I got one for my grand daughter in 4 5/8", I can load downloaded 32 H&R magnums for her and she can plink them cheaper than I can buy 22 in this state. and personally I enjoy the 327 fed magnum round as it would be great for coyotes and such. all in all I think it's a great little revolver.

I have a GP100 and SP101 in this caliber. The GP100 is my favorite gun to shoot.

My advice to you is to get set up to reload for it because factory ammo is expensive and difficult at times to obtain.

OK, thanks fellows. I've been looking at one at a local dealer, and yes I do reload. I've been on Midways site looking at dies and bullet casting molds.

By careful on the bullet casting molds. These rounds can run at pressures and velocities requiring gas checks (30 cal). I bought some Rimrock Bullets .32 (.313), 115 gr. RNFP wgc. For casting you have to source the gas checks separately and install them yourself. I use Hornady. So far, I would rather buy the bullets ready to load. Bullets made specifically for the Federal Magnum are pretty rare.

I have run a 115 grain cast lead flat point from Penn Bullets (no gas check) to a 10-shot average velocity of 1,463 fps (46.5 fps extreme spread, 16.7 SD) from my 4.2" barreled Ruger GP-100 without any hassles, no extreme leading and fine accuracy. Powered by Accurate #9. Not a problem.

YMMV.

I would like a Single Seven, but my .327 Blackhawk and .327 GP100 are holding me over, just fine. ;)

Fun cartridge. LOTS of potential across the range of ammunition and load levels that can be fired (.32 S&W and/or .32 Auto if you're lucky, but definitely .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R, and .327 Federal).

I don't plan to buy another .327 until I come across a Ruger 77/22H or 77/357 to convert.

ive been jonesing for a .327
im not sure which one is gonna fix the itch
but the GP-100 and SP-101 are become pure expensotainium!
so it might end up being a single seven

The single actions are fun, but the GP100 is, by far, the funnest platform for the cartridge. Generally, even Sevens agrees.

I bought the GP100 a while after my wife picked out her .327 Blackhawk. It took ONE range trip for her to tell me, "The new one is mine. You can have the cowboy gun [Blackhawk]."

And my brother, Crankylove, owns a .327 SP101; so we've had plenty of experience there, too. Even he admits that he'd rather have the GP100, unless Ruger offered the SP101 with a longer barrel.

I like my SP101, and concealed carry it daily...............but, I would prefer it had a rear site adjustable for elevation, and a 4" barrel.

Having shot all 3 over the years, the Blackhawk and SP101 are good, fun guns.............but I do think that the 4" GP100 is the best overall package of the 3.

Like Frankenmauser, I would love a .327 bolt action to accompany my SP101, and while I'm wishing, a 5 shot .327 or .32 H&R Bearcat would be nice too.
