32 acp in 32 revolver?

I've always been told I can shoot the semi-rimmed 32 acp in a 32 S&W Long or 32 H&R mag.

Noticed the reasonable price of acp ammo and keep thinking a single six ruger ( or DA S&W or police positive in 32 S&W Long ) in 32 H&R would bridge the gap from bout 38 spl performance down to 22lr/mag performance or less with the 32 auto. ( Maybe even get an extra cylinder and have it fitted and reamed to 32-20 but that's another story ).

Anyway, seems it would make a fun plinking/ small game reloadable gun. Comments?

I probably would work just fine if you use a 32 mag.or .38 frame gun. The 32 auto probably has a bit more pressure than some .32s are planned to handle as many are on a .22 frame. I have shot 9mms in .38 S&Ws for years or what is known as the .380 MK II british servise round. I only shoot lighter loads though and it works just fine. The .38 cal would work better so why bother unless you just want to be differant. :)Now the 32-20 is a whole differant good idea in my opinion as it will out do the mag and can be loaded down to 32 short speed too. :)

I have shot .32 ACP in my S&W mod 16 .32 H&R mag revolver. It works OK but the accuracy was pretty spotty. For inexpensive pratice, I reload .32 S&WL's. I save the .32 ACP for my Walther and HK4

I would ONLY try this with a .32 Mag., NOT a .32 Long, and certainly not a .32 Long made before 1950-60 or so.

Beware the man with the S&W .357 Mag.
Chances are he knows how to use it.

I had the same expieriance as NJW. The acp will shoot in my Single-Six but accuracy really suffers. The acp uses a .311 bullet and the .32 revolvers use a .312 The Ruger is a fun little gun and with cast bullets you can reload for it almost as cheap as .22s
but my latest Ruger catalog dosen't show them offering the Single-Six in .32 anymore.

Yep, works fine and doesn't even shoot too bad in some of them thar sixguns. Done it in 3 Smiths, 3 Rugers, and a Dan Wesson.

I've shot 32 acp in a very old Rossi 32long and it works fine. Accuracy is very bad, but not problems shooting it. If this old Rossi can handle it i'm sure a newer gun or one of those beastly rugers could handle it!

Since the 32ACP is a rimmed case, just stuff 'em in and start trigger pullin'.TM

Actually the .32 ACP is considerd a semi-rimmed case along with the .38 ACP/Super
which means that there is some case rim that extends past the sides of the case that will keep it from going into the chamber so you don't need clips or anything else.
