Have a CZ50 I would like to use as a CCW, anyone know anything about the effectiveness of the above ammo or recommend something better? TIA

Good question, no good answer. Some people like JHP in 32acp, some don't.

I don't use JHP in my NAA Guardian. I feel that the 32acp round is so marginal that I want to go for maximum penetration. If the JHP does expand, this would greatly limit penetration.

Because of this thinking, I use the hottest FMJ on the market, which is Fiocchi FMJ. As a bonus this is also the cheapest 32acp ammo that I've found!

BTW, I have been told that FN made some flat tipped FMJ that might be the best round available, but I haven't been able to try it out yet. Hopefully the poster that told me about this will jump in...

Why is the FN Flat Tipped FMJ so Good?
Thanks,
Mike
P.S. Silvertips have a good reputation & performance & work well in most guns.

check out www.geocities.com/goldenloki/ for a really complete look at pretty much all available 32ACP ammo. Test rounds were fired from a Kel-Tec P32, and the charts have ft/lbs, fps, expansion depth, expansion diameter, and lots of pics. For what it's worth, the Fiocchi 60gr HP preformed pretty poorly when compared to other rounds.

FN flat nose is weak and very long so expect poor performance+feeding issues. Fiocchi JHP is also pretty wide-mouthed, expect feeding issues with the CZ50. Just use Fiochhi or S&B ball, they are hot enough and will feed.

For what it's worth, I've shot a lot of the FN flatnose ammo through my Kel-tec P-32. It works pretty well. I have a few jams at first (new gun), but now that the pistol is broken in, it seems to work pretty reliably. I'd have to shoot some more to determine if it really is reliable enough for self defense, but I suspect it now is in my P-32.

I chronographed the FN and S&B FMJ ammo last week. Here are the results:

Ten rounds of FN Flatnose varied between 782 fps and 818 fps. Average velocity: 797 fps.

Six rounds of S&B varied between 843 and 880 fps. Average velocity: 861 fps.
