I recently purchased a p32 and since I have not shot 32's alot I have been scavanging cheap ammo at tne local gun shops and found a case of fmj cavim 71 grn that after traslating from meters to fps the paperwork says 918 fps.My question is has anyone else seen or used this ammo? Is is corrosive? The cases are brass but are they beridian or boxede primed? I do plan on reloading if I can find enough brass in the grass later.

(If I translated this right it is from Venezuela)

Never heard of this brand so I don't know if it's corrosive. You can look at a fired case and tell how it's primed. If there's a single primer flash hole it's Boxer. If there's two it's Berdan.

Call around for the WWII surplus 32 ACP ammo floating around. Its a nice toasty round that is plenty accurate for training and practice.

AIMSurplus used to sell it for about as cheap as I could reload it.

They're 71 grain flatpoints pacakaged in little 20 bullet platice cartons with a tape seal around them. Ask around.

Aguila also markets some reasonably priced .32 ball, as does Federal under their "American Eagle" brand.

I don't believe the CAVIM is corrosive, but I'm not at all sure what type of primers it uses.

I am not aware of any quantity of WWII surplus .32 ACP ammo, but what there is may well have corrosive primers. There is good modern stuff at reasonable prices.

Natchez Shooters supply sells Sellier and Bellot .32 fmj darn cheaply. Check out their web site. I think it's going for $6.40 per 50 round box.

I would think that most true WW2 or older ammo would be corrosive. Since there are reasonable deals to be had on modern .32ACP ammo, there doesn't seem to be a point on taking a chance on this stuff...

I believe the surplus ammo referred to earlier is circa 1982, not WWII at all. I've shot several thousand rounds in my P-32s. It is packaged in the white plastic, 25 rnd, tape sealed boxes and was manufactured by FN in Begium and it is non-corrosive.

Great ammo for practice but I think the big wholesalers' supplies have dried up. I have seen it at gun shows lately though.

The Calvim is different from the FN.

I bought alot of FN from AIM when they had it.
I know those little white plactic egg cartons taped togther.

Cavim ammo is manufactured in Venezuela for their military. It is really descent quality...works all the time and is very accurate. I like COR-HBON 32s in my Seecamps pistol. I just got a package from UPS today with 200 rounds of it! I think I'll go do some blasting tomorrow!

It looks like this stuff is boxer primed...I was finally able to find the ejected rounds about 30 feet further to the right than I was looking....now I just need to get out the magnifing glass to reload them ;)

Cavim makes perfectly good ammo. I have shot some of their .308 and a LOT of their .38spl. Been using thier .38spl brass for all my reloading lately. Very solid stuff.

My P32s seem to do fine with whatever ammo I try. I bought a bunch of the FN flat-nose ammo cheap and it works fine. I use it for practice. I've also had good results with Aguila and S&B. I recently chronographed all of these and the S&B had the highest velocity, so I'll use it for self-defense. I have heard good things about the Fiocchi and would like to try it, but I never seem to find it at stores or gun shows. Anyone know of a good source?

Gmeister is exactly correct. I recently went to a gun show and I saw 2 vendors that had the FN ammo(25rnd white plastic boxes with "FN" on them) labeled as Cavim. I pointed this out and they both said "yah, your right" but didn't change the sign. The FN flat nose FMJ is my SD round in .32.
