.32 ACP Ammo Recommendations

I have recently purchased a NAA Guardian .32 ACP, and am trying to decide what to use as a carry load. I am leaning towards the Silvertip, on the basis that the Guardian is basically a copy of the Seecamp, and that is what is recommended for the Seecamp. I have decided to use a hollowpoint instead of FMJ, and I would like opinions of the Gold Dot and Cor-Bon loadings.

My overwhelming priority in a load is weapon reliability, but I thought I would seek others experiences in this field.

So, does anyone have any positive or negative experiences in reliability with the aforementioned loads in the NAA Guardian?

BTW, this WILL NOT be my primary handgun, unless something in my life changes drastically.

I only carry Fiocchi FMJ (the hottest available FMJ), and Win Silvertips. These are two very economical rounds, so I can shoot them frequently as a function check and to recycle old carry ammo. I haven't had any problems with either of these loads in my Guardian (except for the occasional last round stove pipe).

Hello. My wife's Walther PP in .32 is loaded with factory Hornady XTPs. In this light caliber, I am a little concerned about lack of penetration so I tried the XTP as it goes to about 1.5 calibers and generally holds together. It fed very slick in this gun. Best.

h2o-5o,
My Guardian is completely reliable with two brands only, Fiocchi FMJ, and Winchester Silvertips.
Silvertips have a very good reccord, so they're my carry load.

I carry Gold Dots in my Tomcat as a backup, or when I'm "not" carrying. Always remember rule #1 in a gunfight!

Ditto on Fiocchi FMJ in 32cal. Hot, Hot, Hot. And affortable. I use S & B for general range practice, also hot. And very affortable.

Stay away from UNC, CCI, etc. Cheap is what you pay, and very cheap is what you get.

Shoot your carry ammo every so often, not so much as to keep it "fresh" but to practice with the "real thing."

Another nod for the Fiocchi - it's hot as hell and moves at a brisk pace. Published reports indicate the 73-gr FMJ round moves along at about 1,100fps. I'm sure if you bounced one of those off some thug's ribs, he'd be a hurtin' pup.

I also like the Fiocchi 60-gr HP, also a hot little number. I used one of these recently to kill a feral dog (we have a rabies epidemic here in NC) and it fell over dead quite nicely.

I've had no problems with either round in a Walther PPK and a PPK/S. You can buy it by the case from AIM surplus: http://www.aimsurplus.com/

Several guys have mentioned that Fiocchi 73gr. FMJ is pretty hot stuff. I don't doubt them, however I've noticed that in my Guardian, I don't sense any difference in recoil or report. Does anyone else notice any difference when you shoot the Fiocchi FMJ? (Especially in your Guardian.)

Thanks,
Will

fiocchi soft tip hollow point with a drop of wax down the hollow point to fill it up. these will go fast and expand well, they go fast because there is no wind reduction in the hollow point due to the added wax and when they impact the wax does not get in to way of the expansion. to bad u have to add the wa your self, they should do it in the factory, oh well its not alot of trouble.

I've always noticed a big differance in the recoil with the Fiochii FMJ in my Tomcat. I'de stay away from the HP because I've had feeding problems with the flat tip. Plus many people suggest that in the lighter rounds a FMJ is better than a HP because of the penetration.

I had problems with the Gold Dots in my Guardian due to light primer strike and unreliable ignition, as well as with CCI Blazers. Anybody else had the light primer strike problem? Seems to only happen when I slowly squeeze off a round -- if I pull the trigger smoothly and quickly, it doesn't happen.

I've actually had good luck with Federal HS, but still experience some failure to feed after 3 or 4 mags -- resolves after cleaning. I figure I'm not going to put more than 2 mags through it in a real-world situation (probably not more than 3 rounds!). Haven't gotten my hands on any Silvertips, though ... I'd like to try those.
