308 subsonic powders

Trail Boss is not available to me. Is there any data on other powders that may work. Will any of my 300bo powders work?

I have been loading for 300 Whisper for the past 8 or so years and have found that H110, IMR 4227, and Lil'Gun work for me with heavy (say 176 gr specialty type bullets like Lehigh or Outlaw States up to the 240 SMK's) bullets in subsonic range.
With the onset of the popularity of the Blackout there are a few more powders that folks are finking useful but I find myself gravitating towards Lil'Gun more and more.
Feel free to pm me if you have specific question re: loads I have used.

Im pretty sure the OP wants to load 308win at subsonic velocities.

I run a bunch of subsonic in 9mm, 223, 300blk and 308 win. Unfortunately, the only powder i use in 308win for subsonics IS Trailboss. Nothing else gives anything near the load density.

I would NOT USE H110/296 in such a large case/small charge. The possibility of a detonation is way up there.

Both Red Dot and American Select have a high load density, and being quite fast burning are safe to use in light, subsonic loads. In 308 Win, use magnum primers for best ignition, heavy cast bullets for less barrel friction than jacketed, and 6-9 grains of either of the above powders. Start with the 9 grain loads, and work down until you get the velocity below 1050 fps. Check for bore obstructions (stuck bullets) after every shot.

OOOPS-I saw 308 and 300BO in the same posting and did not make the connection that he wanted info on 308 Winchester/7.62-51

With that said I do remember some posts way back from Seafire that used ---wait for it and no shrieking ---BlueDot.

I actually have used his BlueDot loading data for subsonic and/or just reduced velocity rounds in 243 Win and 22-250 with great success, although I do realize that many feel Blue Dot is to be avoided like the plague.

Anyway, it is another avenue to look down if your really really need a reduced charge and don't have Trail Boss available.
