Which of the following brands have you found to be the most accurate?

American Eagle
PMC
UMC
USA

Or any others I might have omitted.

Thanks in advance.

im no expert, but a buddy of mine has a model 70 in .308, and he always seems to get military surplus match ammo really cheap, the 168 gr. HPBT stuff, shoots great through his gun, and it seems to eat the surplus stuff better than most factory loads.

Hornady Custom

Has given me the most consistant accuracy. I really love that stuff.
But I am also very pleased with Winchester Fail Safe which gave me ALMOST as good accuracy as the Hornady.

The key to accuracy is Consistancy. Consistancy is a byproduct of Quality Control in a Mass Produced product like ammunition. Your above named ammo suffers from spotty QC. I dont use them unless I have to. Given a bit of choice... Hornady Custom is my First Choice and Winchester Fail Safe is my 2nd. 3rd Choice is Federal Premium.

I have had real good results with the American Eagle fodder. My M1A digests it perfectly and the accuracy is there too. UMC isn't bad either. The pricing for either of the aforementioned brands is reasonable as well.

Federal Match Gold Medal

I often shoot .25" groups at 100 yds through my PSS with this stuff. Unfortunately it isn't cheap. I can come close to that accuracy with Remington Match loads.

For off the wall stuff, I found some really strange POLICE ONLY stuff. 168 grain, molly coated, hollow piont, heat treated neck. Made by HSM out of Missoula, Mt. Next to my reload it is about the best I seen. I did just get some 165 grain Brit Milsulp but haven't tried it yet.
