I agree that such an insert would be pointless; the ones used to fire 7.62 NATO in .30-'06 chambers give plenty of trouble, usually coming out at the wrong time. If they are put in permanently, then the rifle cannot be restored to its original caliber. Further, the 7.5 Swiss case is bigger at the back than the 7.62 NATO, so case swelling will result, never a good idea, and the bolt face is too large for the 7.62 NATO base, reducing the extractor bite.
Another problem is that while the new 7.5 Swiss is in the 50k psi range, and the 7.62 NATO milspec is in the same range, the .308 Winchester commercial ammo runs as high as 65k psi, which is more than I want to put through that K31 or most other older rifles.
So, I agree with Harry, though perhaps not for exactly the same reasons.
