.303 Information Please?

I've had my .303 for a couple years now and other then the year I don't know much about it's history. Its a 1942 English No. 4 MK1 Long Branch, markings on it are 1L9646 and below it FTR. The stamp on it appears to be a crown. Anyone with a good bit of knowledge on .303's would be greatly appreciated.

alrighty then.
it was made at the long branch plant in canada in 1942

the jumble of letters and numbers is the serial number

and the FTR, if I recall correctly means that it was sent in at least once for an overhaul. the northern canadian militia still uses long branches. the're good guns. my brother pieced one together from a stack of parts, probably the smartest $50 he ever spent. it's got a ramline sporter stock on it and no two parts match but it's a great shooter.
