Hi, im new to this forum so thanks for having me. Im fairly new to reloading and would like some advice. Im reloading for a rem700 classic chambered in 300 weatherby mag. The bullets i'll be using are nosler accubond 200grain. I cant decide whether to use IMR 7828 or H-1000. Any suggestions on powder choice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Does Remington use the long chambering that Weatherby Does ?
If not everything does else will to .

I've used a lot of IMR 7828 and really like it. NSWC Crane specified H-1000 in the Mk248 Mod1 300 Win Mag load for SOCOM.

Either will do you fine, and spending less than thirty bucks on a one pound bottle and doing the load workup with both will definitely determine which one you like more, in your rifle, with the bullet you intend to shoot.

Otherwise, just buy the one in stock and stick with it.

I've loaded 200 gr. Partitions with Norma MRP powder with good results. Only thing I can add is using Remington or Federal brass you can't load as hot as factory Weatherby brass. These cases have less internal volume and are heavier and data using Wea. brass must be reduced and I'm talking about 4 grains less. Just work up carefully. Don't push the shoulders back too much on your Weatherby belted cases. I recommend a case headspace gauge such as the Hornady Headspace Gauge set that works with your calipers. Push the shoulder back too much and you will only get maybe 3-4 firings and your cases may separate just in front of the belt. Make the belted case headspace on both the belt and shoulder just like non-belted cases. IMR 7828 should do well.

RG1 that is interesting, I recently finished a .300wby project and I found very little difference in H20 capacity between the Weatherby and the FC brass I was using (sampled 5 of each) I expected a difference and was a little surprised not to find much. The FC cases were nickel plated, not sure if it makes a difference but they were all from the same ammo lot. I didn't load any of the RP brass I had so I did not check its relative capacity of it. Now I'm a little worried that I should have checked more cases...but nothing appeared out of the ordinary with those I have fired so far (no sticky bolt lift, flattened primers or major difference in speed).

I used IMR7828SSC

When I had a 300 wby I found 7828 worked the best for me. Best velocity and accuracy. This was with a 24" vangaurd though. A longer barrel my like something a little slower.
