300 Weatherby

I properly full length re-sized a Weatherby case with an RCBS carbide die. While the ram was at its fullest extension, I looked at the die to see if it was resting on top of the belt, which it was. Then, I pulled the die from the press and inserted the case in the die by hand but was only able to insert the case to within about 3/8ths of an inch from the belt. Is this because I don't have the same leverage as the press?

Then, I inserted the case in the Innovative (Larry Willis) belted case re-sizing die on the end where you check to see if a case requires his die sizing. The case dropped, easily, and stopped at the belt.

What up dudes?

This is normal with any die. The case is forced into the die under pressure sizing it down. The brass springs back a small amount when removed, so no you should not be able to reinsert it all the way with your fingers,

Math Teacher, I forgot to mention, I'm the world's greatest math phobic. I can do basic math, add, subtract, divide, multiply, etc.

"...add, subtract, divide, multiply, etc..." What else is there? snicker. All other math games are applications of these. And they invented Texas Instruments for a reason.
"...if a case requires his die sizing..." Nonsense designed to separate you from your money. The best case gauge is the rifle's chamber.

Had to chuckle at this thread. Math phobia, TI, brought back memories of my Thermo prof. Fun Friday.

A case gauge is everybody's case gauge. Your rifle's chamber is YOUR case gauge. :D

I think Math Teacher answered my sizing question handily and without math, thank goodness. There is a Far Side cartoon where a dude is trying to enter heaven. The title of the cartoon is, "A Math Phobic's Nightmare." The man must answer a math question to enter. I'm the guy standing there looking at St. Peter while he asks the math question.

I bought that same Larry Willis die only to confirm that my Forster Benchrest fl sizer does exactly what it's supposed to, cure the bulge above the belt...7mm rem mag...

Math Teacher,

I had to look up topology. Here's the definition. It's all Greek to me. This falls in the category of TMI (too much information) for me but thanks for the new word in my vocabulary.

the study of geometric properties and spatial relations unaffected by the continuous change of shape or size of figures.

Hooligan,

Fortunately for me, someone bought the Willis die for me. After he bought it, I found some information, on the Firing Line, I think, where someone cut the bottom off of a 300 sizing die and used this to size to the belt.

One more question. Do you think the Willis die will help me with the bulge above my belt?

Topology deals with problems such as "What is the maximum number of colors needed to color a map of countries on a torus (doughnut) shaped planet?"

Pogybait, I guess it could, get that dude "stuck"on your tongue might work....I paid 100.00 or so for that die, thinking I could get a lot more loads out of my brass,,turns out that if I were to use my caliper, I would still have that hundo in my wallet..

One more question. Do you think the Willis die will help me with the bulge above my belt?

Yes, it helps. My RCBS dies for 7mm Rem Mag do not size the area just above the belt and finding new brass has been (and still is) a futile experience. I got a Larry Willis die and am now using cases that have been fired 5 times.

AllenJ,

My last statement/question to hooligan was meant as a joke. I was referring to the bulge above my belt (the one holding up my trousers).
