I have no plans to load 300 but out of curiosity, is brass hard to come by. I was out plinking in the Arizona desert and found a fair amount brass.

I bought 500(75.00 from the net) reworked .223 to 300 bk, all I had to do was prime and load and they shoot very well.

300 blk brass is easy to find ready to load or you can make your own VERY simply from 223 brass.

Just cut it off at the shoulder, run it thru a die and trim to length. Super simple

Be sure and pick it up....after you collect a bucket of brass , it starts talking to you ,
"HEY...You need to do something with us....buy a gun " you listen and before long you need a 300 blackout....happens every time !

I can attest to what gwpercle just said. I have over 100 pieces of .308 brass and a .308 die set. Now I find myself looking online every night for a .308!!

I had no real interest in 300 BLK years ago as it just seemed a niche AR cartridge. Now that I have a NFA .30 cal supressor, 300 BLK (subsonic) has taken on a whole new perspective. Built myself a 300 BLK subsonic specific upper and am SO happy ! Very cool round !

It is easy to find, but much of it is converted 5.56 brass. I believe you want the annealed stuff.

It is fun to load. Supers tend to be 110-130 gr fb varmint bullets, so then you are going to want an expander.

Bullets are a bit expensive......about $200-$280 per 1000.

Powders like h110, lilgun and Ramshot Enforcer work well.

Like 5.56, crimping is a good idea.

Subs are a whole 'nother challenge.....same with cast subs!

Now, you may worry about the ballistics...think of it as a long range high performance 357 maximum. 110 bullet @ 2100 fps from an 8" barrel!

All I can say is the 300 is a fun gun to shoot. I'm casting the 230 gr boolits in my Lee mold, then coating them with Hi Tek. After that I load with 11.4 gr of AA-1680 and press them to an OAL of 2.210", followed by the crimp die. At 50 yds they make a 10 shot ragged hole. At 100 yds they are still in a nice 1 1/2" - 2" hole for 10 shots.
I also use a Forster hollow pointer to aid in expanding for when I'm hunting. So far the pigs drop with 1 shot.
Only problem I had in the beginning was determining the OAL so they would feed well. After determining the 2.210" length, the mag feeds them just fine.
And they cost me $0.09 cents per round.
