.30-30 REVOLVER...is there such a thing?

Just a question but what would be the point? Hot .357Mag and average .44Mag loads produce more power than the 30-30 in carbines. I really wonder what the short barrel of the revolver would do to the ballistics of the 30-30. Probably would just as powerful or less than a .44Mag.

cje1980: I haven't seen any data for the BFRs, but you may be right about that. There is definitely a significant amount of the market for such handguns that buys them for the "honor" of having the most powerful handgun made - not a practical consideration at all.

some people like myself enjoy collecting, handling and shooting unusual firearms. isn't that a good enough reason to want one? :)

I own a .45/70 Magnum Research BFR, and it has nothing to do with braggin' rights, etc., and everything to do with killing hogs. Loaded warm with 405 grain jacketed Remington softnose bullets, and the gun is the perfect hog-killin' machine. And quality is superb and the price reasonable. I like the combo. Whether the 30/30 cartridge in the revolver is equally impressive, I do not know....

I just visited the Magnum Research BFR site.
I... I... I need a towel and a cigarette....
and I NEED a BFR!
Can I shoot .45 long colts outta the .454 Casull one?

I asked the question without doing the 'looking'.
Thanks for the link!

As for 'what's the point'?
It struck me that there are other calibers for handguns/rifles and I think Steve McQueen was in a TV show where he used a sawed off 1892 in .44-40, I think, but the cartridges in his belt were for a RIFLE, just for 'looks' on TV.
So, I thought it would be interesting if the .30-30 were available in a revolver as well as a companion rifle...not just for looks, but for someone who didn't want a .45-70 rifle!
:)

Yes, McQueen carried around .45-70 cartridges as they were much more impressive to look at!
