30/30 - 150gr vs. 170 gr?

Out of a 16" barrel, what are the pros and cons of the 150gr vs. the 170gr? I have a Winchester 94 trapper and am trying to decide which would be a better all around choice.

Buy one box of each and see which one works better in YOUR gun. At less than ten dollars a box, it is a very cheap experiment.

My experience is the 150 is the better deer bullet with the 170 being a better black bear bullet.

Go with 170 Grains.

There is no REAL trajectory advantage to the 150.

The 170 holds on to energy better and will dig deeper in the target.

Your 170 gr bullet will have better knock down power at long range with a slightly higher midrange and lower drop at 200 yards. Sight it in 2 inches high at 100 yards and you should be zeroed at 200.
