3 month waiting period between purchases in NYC

I just received both my NYC pistol premises permit, and my NYC rifle/shotgun permit. I know there is a 3 month waiting period between handgun purchases, but my local gun dealer informs me that it is on gun purchases period not just handguns. The 'lady' at the rifle/shotgun division of the NYPD said I could buy a shotgun the day after I buy my pistol since they are separate licenses. Anyone have any real knowledge on the subject? I don’t want to put either of these newly acquired licenses in jeopardy.

Thanks.

Yes i'm sure i could i just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to run into problems when the registration paperwork got to the PD. Unfortunately you get a diferent answer from each person you speak to over there. Its worse than the DMV...

Wow, what are you some sorta government super secret spy??!?!?:D JK but seriously you have to be pin straight to get any permit in NYC, congrats.

I was told by my brother that an FFL dealer he talked to told him that our 30 day law in California does not apply to consignment pieces, only brand new. You still have to do the DROS (dealer's record of sale) AND wait 10 days AND do a separate DROS for each at a cost of 25 bucks per. I have not confirmed this, but it would make sense given the backward liberal state this is. Just a backward attempt to slow the influx of guns into the state as opposed to really trying to face crime where it lives. If I were you, I would talk to a few of your local FFLs. They know the score best IMHO.

In NYC there are two separate licenses. One for Pistols and one for Rifle/Shotgun. There are two separate divisions of the NYPD, one for each license. So yes there is a 'Pistol License division', but there is also a 'Rifle/Shotgun division'. The two don't seem to EVER communicate, and they give out conflicting information on a regular basis...
Welcome to NYC!!!!!

They are 2 different licenses. The rules are different. The rules for rifle/shotgun are different than pistol. And yes, the waiting period for submitting a purchase authorization once the first one has be filled is 3 months. (for pistol only)

That a NYPD License Division rule. (for pistol)

More like 2 or 3. Reason being is that it takes up to 6 weeks to process the form to obtain a little slip of paper that allows you to buy one. So 3 months, then add about six weeks maybe more depending on how lazy the license division is feeling that week and youve basically got yourself 2 a year, maybe 3 if youre lucky.
