powder charge?

Ive loaded some rounds to try tonight don't remember the powder charge I'm at work now but it was the next bushing smaller in my mec, from my 7/8 oz load.It loaded ok I used zero wad pressure the crimp is just slightly depressed but ok I'm wondering if the lighter shot load will put less back pressure on the powder burn and result in less velocity and maybe I should have used same bushing I was using on 7/8oz load.

3/4 oz loads in a 20ga.....most of the books will tell you that its ok to use a WAA20 wad...but I've found the crimps are too dished in.

I had to go to a CB 1075-20 wad....with better results.

Uniques website calls for 3/4 oz, 20ga 15.4gr at 1200 fps ....and 16.4gr at 1250 fps..../ and I'd have to check my log, but a bushing # 25 seems about right.

I got better crimps at the higher end ...around 1225 fps - 1250 fps..../ using Win AA hulls / Rem STS hulls worked out as well.

I reload 3/4 oz exclusively for both 12 and 20.

I prefer Gun Club hulls as they are better in being uniform in length; however the recipe is basically the same.
Use the ClayBuster green 3/4oz wad, pick a primer, and for Unique, Alliant shows about 16.4 grains for 1250. Typically any good recipe for 7/8 oz in the powder dept. will work nicely for 3/4oz.

I use reclaimed shot to get costs down even further and these SMOKE targets on the skeet, 5-stand and sporting courses
(Getting 533 loads from 25# of shot isn't too bad either)

I USED to own several Zippy, my friend, but that 3/4oz, at least in MY guns - one of which is a fixed choke SxS - holds a great tight pattern, even with reclaimed. It made my 28s just an extra reloader on the bench......

Now, maybe if I had my friend's Perazzi 28, I would change my thoughts.......:D

I shoot 28ga a lot ( at least for Skeet - and occasionally for sporting clays )....and Hodgdon Universal is my go to reload for 3/4oz in a 28ga Rem STS hull ....

Like Zippy says ....its a great gague...soft shooting, good pattern ....

but for guys that don't want to shoot a lot of different gagues ...and save money on shot ....3/4 oz loads in 20ga and 12ga are becoming a common discussion.
